I. What is cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB-531-1)

Cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB-531-1) is a type of cellulose ester with a higher butyryl content than CAB-381 esters. By combining cellulose acetate butyrate with thermoplastic acrylic resin, tough films with good scratch resistance and weather resistance can be produced. CAB-531-1 and CAB-381 esters have similar hydroxyl content and solubility characteristics, both of which are soluble in various solvents. CAB-531-1 is a more flexible resin that requires less plasticizer modification compared to CAB-381 ester.

50% butyryl group, excellent resistance to bending and cold cracking of paint film; Compared to the CAB-381 series, the formula requires fewer plasticizers; Suitable for easily deformable plastic substrates such as ABS and modified PP, the paint film is not easily brittle Eastman.

Good solubility and resin compatibility

Dissolved in conventional solvents such as ketones and esters, the solution is clear and transparent; Excellent compatibility with thermoplastic acrylic and nitro resins, and not easily cloudy or precipitated when compounded; The solvent has good tolerance and can accommodate a certain amount of hydrocarbon diluents.

Regulating the application of coatings and the appearance of paint films

Accelerate solvent evaporation and improve surface drying speed; Effectively guide the directional arrangement of aluminum powder and pearl pigments to enhance the sparkling effect of metallic paint; Improve leveling, suppress sagging and shrinkage; Improve the anti adhesion and anti scratch properties of the paint film; It has the functions of anti biting bottom and anti-seepage color.

Viscosity higher than CAB-381-0.5; Focus on thermoplastic coating systems; Not recommended for use in two-component PU cross-linking systems; It can be compounded with other CAB grades to adjust the hardness toughness balance.
